Head of Relationship Development Future Cities Catapult

Sam Markey is Head of Relationship Development at the Future Cities Catapult, with responsibility for joining up conversations between cities (in the UK and elsewhere) grappling with thorny urban challenges, corporates with an appetite for innovation, academics with world-leading research, and SMEs with brilliant new solutions and services, all with a view to forging projects that foster innovation, grow companies and make cities better.

Before joining Future Cities in mid-2016, Sam worked at Cabinet Office, first in the Prime Minister’s Implementation Unit, leading projects on health and social care reform, and latterly as senior adviser to the Cabinet Secretary, future-proofing policy (particularly housing) and encouraging the adoption of new technologies to tackle long-standing public service challenges. He began his career in local government, notably as Head of Insight at the London Borough of Barnet, where he developed the infamous Graph of Doom analysis.
